Hello everyone!
I am so glad you are here and spending a few minutes reading with me as I write you a little blurb. Since this is my first post, I’d like to share a bit about what makes me ME. I am a proud American, a mother of 5 beautiful children (1 now grown and 4 little people under the age of 7 years). Long ago, I spent a short amount of time as a struggling single mother. These days, I serve as a seasoned military spouse, having spent 4 years as an Army Infantry Wife and for the past 12 years, thus far, as a Navy spouse.
In my “free time,” I love to make meals at home, go on adventures while teaching the kids new concepts (kid-led exploration, if you will), and in my past, I spent hours upon hours on horseback and cross-country skiing in beautiful Washington state. These days, in my free time, I remove crayon and peanut butter from walls while balancing a plate on my head and a real-life monkey clings to my ankle.
Alas, I digress. As some of you may already know, military spouses are a different kind of single mom in regards to how we are often left to hold down the duties of the home while the military member is away doing whatever our great nation has in store at the time. In some ways, we have some access to helpful resources, but in other ways, with the continual moving every couple of years, we are left to restart our new village wherever we are told we must call home, and even then, we often don’t know for how long that place will be home.
Hopefully, you will find I have a bit of comedic relief and recognize the wit behind my words to help you navigate through whatever present hurdle you find yourself facing and help you know that you are NOT alone and that you too can find friends to call your own and people to ask when life’s storms hit with no relief in sight. Together we can build the support we find ourselves in need of. It is my humble request that you take me with you and I will share some of the things I’ve learned along the way. From life hacks, practical kids’ activities, and ways to anchor into mental peace when the world is spiraling out of control. I hope that you will find some encouragement along the way.
