Peter’s Place – Caregiver & Children’s Grief Support

by

Our mission is to provide safe and supportive environments for grieving children and families, and
to foster understanding of the effects of death and grief. We believe that supporting adult caregivers is essential in supporting the needs of grieving children.
Our adult caregiver support groups are professionally facilitated by our masters-level staff (with backgrounds in social work or counseling), as well as trained volunteers. We moderated open ended discussions and conversations centered around grief topics relevant to each individual group.

Who is eligible to attend, and are they drop-in or scheduled groups?

Our adult caregiver support groups are populated by the adults of the children attending our children’s grief peer support groups, and take place simultaneously in separate spaces within our grief center. They are scheduled, running from September to May. Each group starts new each September, with a mix of returning and new families. Some families attend for one program year, whereas others attend for several years. 1 adult caregiver from each family has the option to attend adult caregiver group.

Are sessions free, and is any registration or paperwork needed?

Our sessions are free. We require an introductory phone call to assess needs, then families (children who wish to attend group along with their adult caregiver) must attend an intake visit as a way to assess readiness. Paperwork is required at that point, then families will enroll in a group until we reach capacity.

What’s the best way for a caregiver to get connected—calling, emailing, or joining an event calendar?

Best way is to reach out to us at info@petersplaceonline.org or call at 610-687-5150 (also see www.petersplaceonline.org) and we will set up that introductory phone call.
