Two New Resources

There are two resources I have recently learned about that I wanted to share. These resources will be added to our database for parents, once our network has launched.

Shiloh Center, of Harrison, MO

The Shiloh Center came onto my radar when helping a mom in Kansas City, who was considering placing her baby for adoption because she and the father were struggling financially, and uncertain how they would pull through. This mom called me about some very unethical practices by the adoption agency with whom she had been speaking, and really wanted to just be a little family. After making some phone calls to find her some support in her area, I was given this resource. This sweet organization came alongside the mom and dad, and helped them acquire some needed items for their baby that the adoption agency wouldn’t. They were able to get a large donation for clothes, and some emotional support for their new parenthood journey. The Shiloh center comes in alongside the new family to help them get some needs met so they can begin parenthood on a slightly more sure foot. They provide other services as well, and were amazingly pleasant to speak with. We are happy to recommend them to anyone who needs them in the Kansas City, MO area.

Gabriel Project

I was passed this information about this organization that has chapters in multiple states. I was told that this organization will come alongside a vulnerable mother to help her care for her infant for the first two years of her life. This will help her to avoid decisions she would make from a crisis perspective, and instead having her with a system of support so that her temporary struggles are ones she can overcome. There is a huge need for safety nets for moms out there, and organizations like these are stepping in the gap when they can. I’m sure they would enjoy having other states join them, and could use the growth!

We are so pleased to share new resources as they come along for parents. We know that parents are trying hard to pull it together for their children, and it can just be a struggle sometimes. There aren’t enough hours in the day to even find the right help sometimes. So whenever we hear of anything, you can be sure we will be passing them on. And they will be added to our database, ones the build has been finished.
